Deep in the desert of Qatar’s Brouq Nature Reserve stands Richard Serra’s monumental sculpture East-West/West-East. Running over a kilometer in length in an ancient seabed, the piece is comprised of four totemic steel plates towering over 45 feet and 13 feet wide. The sculpture itself and the lunar landscape in which it is embedded are truly breathtaking. If you ever find yourself in the tiny Gulf state you must make a point of visiting this masterpiece.
