In November of 2023 I had the amazing opportunity to spend a few days in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico over Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes food, drink and celebration.

A lone musician is seen in the children’s section of the Panteón de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, or cemetery of Our Lady of Guadalupe. He was quietly walking around asking families if he could sing a song for them and their departed loved ones. “Una cancion?” he asked.
